There is something about deer hunting in Illinois. Last year was my first time deer hunting in Illinois. I fell in love with it. I’d always wanted to go hunting outside of my home state of Georgia and last year I was lucky enough to be able to do that. We didn’t think we were going to be able to get a trip together this year. But that all changed Sunday. Then I received a call from my buddy Brad and he said him and my other buddy Jay had ordered their bow hunting license for deer hunting in Illinois.
I was pumped to say the least. Then I got on the phone and ordered mine and I am very excited. We didn’t think they were going to be able to go this year but it looks like we are now. I was trying to find another friend that would like to go with us. So I sent my friend Troy a message and he said he would love to go. Deer hunting in Illinois in November during the rut is awesome and I can’t wait.
Deer Hunting In Illinois
Last year we arrived in southern Illinois the first week of November and were greeted by very unseasonably warm temperatures. We hunted very hard all week and extended the trip for a couple of days due to a cold front coming in. On the last day of the hunt I was fortunate enough to be able to harvest a very nice ten pointer. I rattled him in at 7:00 am on the last day. It was a memory that I will never forget and now I am hooked. I haven’t gotten my buck back from the taxidermist yet. Although I can’t wait to have him officially scored. I scored him just below Pope and Young but want to get him officially scored to make sure I scored him correctly.
Are you fired up about deer season yet? I am officially pumped! I’m shooting my bow this evening.
