It’s that time again to plant those spring food plots for those big bucks. Now is the time to start getting ready because soon it will be time to go hunting. There are a lot of things you can do to get your property ready for planting those food plots. If you are like me someone who is serious about big bucks, I wanted to outline some of the things you need to do to start preparing and planting your deer hunting food plots. Here are a few things that you need to think about before you start.

1. Deciding where you should plant

A. When deciding where to plant choose places away from public roads and property lines. This should decrease the chances of poaching.

B. Pick a site that will retain some moisture.

A. Soil testing tells you how much lime and fertilizer is needed to grow a certain crop to its best potential. Soil testing should be done every two years.

D. You want the plot to provide plenty of protein and energy to the deer E. Pick seeds best for your food plot sites, soil, climate.
